Education Sponsorship Programme

We are supporting the ESP school network in Gujarat (India) since 1977, where about 30 thousand poor children are learning in 140 schools in 2005. The leader of this network is Cedric Prakash SJ ( see other CV), who got in 1995 one of the highest Indian honours, the Kabir Purashkar award.

On 18th April, 2006 he has been awarded of "Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur" (Knight of the Legion of Honour). He is the director of the Prashant Human Rights Center in Ahmedabad.

He've visited us six times now (1987, 1994, 1997, 2000, 2002, 2005).
The school-network have been visited by Katalin Simonyi dr. in 1996 (supported by Kairos Europa), by Cecília Simonyi in 2004 (supported by Canadian International Development Aid) and by Betty Zsoldos and Zsolt Ivanics in Jan. 2005.
In Nov-Dec. 2006 four BOCS trainers gave three-week-long global education for GES teachers and social workers (supported by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the National Civil Fund). The president of BOCS was accepted by the Hungarian ambassador in Delhi (2006).
